Traffic Attorney Tyler Benson joined iTicket.law in its inception, and has since become a cornerstone to the functionality of and growth of our firm. Attorney Benson has practiced traffic and criminal law in countless counties throughout North Carolina for the past nine years. He lives in Raleigh and his experience in Wake County has allowed him to forge deep connections with both the legal community and his clients. These relationships allow him an elevated and better position when addressing traffic cases. Attorney Benson has handled thousands of traffic cases in the Triangle and has garnered a sterling reputation within the legal community for his organization, zeal, and professionalism. He understands the difficulty of navigating the court system when you receive a citation on one of Wake County's many highways (I40, Hwy 70, US1, 440, 540, etc). He utilizes his knowledge of the complex and diverse traffic laws and DMV regulations to seek to achieve the best possible result for clients. His primary goal with most citations is to prevent an impact on either your insurance premiums or your driver’s license through working to reduce or even dismiss citations. So why waste your own time when Attorney Benson can take care of it for you?

When doing a cost-benefit analysis on whether or not to hire Attorney Benson and his iTicket.law team, the advantages are clear. For example, if you choose to to hire Attorney Benson, in most instances you would not have to appear in court*, saving you the hassle of having to take off work, hire a babysitter, or even drive hours from where you live to appear at the Wake County Justice Center. If you decide to pay off your own ticket, without seeking legal advice by seasoned attorney, you will be admitting guilt to the citation charged by the officer. Additionally, the negative impacts on insurance premiums and driver’s license points can be significant for seemingly small traffic infractions. For instance, admitting to speeding just 10mph over the limit in a 55mph zone could result in 3 points on your license and an increase in your insurance premiums of 45% for three years. For just 99$ for the average speeding ticket, Attorney Tyler Benson and his team can relieve you of the stress and burdens of handling a traffic citation.*

Do not pay any speeding or traffic ticket without first consulting a traffic attorney.

Common Questions about Wake County Traffic Tickets

Isn't it easier to mail in payment for my Raleigh traffic ticket?

In Wake County, your citation will indicate whether your appearance is required on your court date. However, with some exceptions, your attorney will be able to appear in court on your behalf without you having to be there. Generally, the exceptions are when your violation could result in jail time or an automatic license suspension.

Is it not easier to just pay off my Raleigh North Carolina traffic ticket?

At first glance, it might seem easiest to immediately pay off your ticket by mailing in payment.  However, doing so means pleading guilty in full to the offense for which you were charged. Paying off a ticket can have serious consequences.  Namely, your auto insurance rates can skyrocket, you might have points assessed to your driving record, and your license can even be suspended. Attorney Tyler Benson recommends consulting a licensed Wake County traffic attorney before you consider paying off your ticket.

I live outside of North Carolina, but I received a traffic ticket in North Carolina.  Will the citation affect my license and/or insurance?

Possibly, depending on your state’s laws and DMV guidelines, you may be subject to increased insurance premiums and license points.  A number of states (North Carolina included) have traffic laws that can cause an out of state speeding ticket to affect your license and insurance.  Attorney Benson advises speaking with an attorney from your state or the DMV for information about how a ticket can affect you.

Can I save money by going to Wake County court by myself?

Absolutely, you can avoid the cost of legal representation by going to court yourself. However, what is the opportunity cost? Losing a vacation day (or two or three) at work? Babysitter? Going to court to handle a ticket can be an uphill battle for someone who is not an attorney. It isn't uncommon to spend several hours waiting in line just to speak with an Assistant District Attorney - a person whose entire career revolves around prosecuting these types of offenses to the fullest extent of the law. This person is prohibited from giving you advice about how your conviction will impact your license or insurance. If you decide to fight your ticket, your hearing will likely be continued to a future date, meaning you must miss then another day of work just to finalize your case.

Jokingly, we like to think of ourselves sometimes like plumbers. If you have a leaking pipe at your house and are highly experienced in handling such matters, you don't need to hire a plumber. However, if you aren't sure how to handle it, but try to fix it, you could accidentally flood your house. Same concept. If you're not very comfortable with North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicle and Department of Insurance Laws, getting what you think is a "good" outcome could possibly skyrocket your insurance premiums.

Traffic Attorney Tyler Benson wants to give you the peace of mind of knowing that a seasoned professional is handling your case.*
