Our Story

iTicket.law was born out of a moment of frustration - and a vision for something better. While attending law school at the University of North Carolina, attorney Daniel A. Hatley received a traffic ticket and hired a lawyer to handle it. The experience left him feeling ignored and in the dark. The communication was poor, the process confusing, and the service impersonal.

That experience stuck with him.

In April 2009, Dan founded the Hatley Law Office with a mission to fix what was broken in traffic law representation: poor communication, outdated systems, and legal services that made people feel more stressed, not less.

For the next seven years, Dan worked to reimagine what a legal practice could look like - client-first, tech-enabled, and relentlessly focused on ease and efficiency. In 2016, that vision came to life in a major way with the launch of iTicket.law, a brand that would embody a smarter, simpler way to deal with traffic tickets across North Carolina.

The platform allowed the firm to scale, streamline processes, and bring 21st-century convenience to a part of the legal system that had barely changed in decades.

From the beginning, iTicket.law has combined powerful technology with compassionate client service. In 2020, the firm launched the My Case Portal, giving clients 24/7 access to their case status, secure messaging with their attorney, and digital tools to upload documents and sign forms - all from their phone or computer.

In 2022, iTicket.law expanded its impact with the launch of a statewide license restoration program. Navigating a revoked license can be overwhelming and complex. iTicket.law simplified the process, helping thousands of North Carolinians regain their driving privileges - and their independence.

Today, iTicket.law serves clients on over 95% of traffic tickets issued across North Carolina, combining statewide reach with individualized attention.
