While previously serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Halifax and Pitt County for 6 years, Pittman has prosecuted cases ranging from minor traffic offenses, impaired driving offenses, juvenile crimes, non-capital murder cases, and felony drug offenses to felony financial crimes. “In spite of the case, fairness is most important to me,” he says. He is a native of Scotland Neck. He completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Juris Doctorate from William and Mary Law School. He began his legal career working for now North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Cheri Beasley as a post-graduate extern when she served at the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Pittman was a junior associate at the Ruffin Law, where he defended indigent clients, juveniles, and helped individuals navigate their way through the court system. He served as an assistant district attorney in Halifax County, where he assisted in bringing Teen Court.
